Responsible Business

Our Commitments

Health & Safety

Musen is committed to improving health and safety performance across its operations. Experience has reinforced the importance of careful planning, clear responsibilities, effective supervision and learning from incidents and operational experience. The company aims to identify and manage risks, promote safe working practices and continually strengthen the way work is carried out in the field.

People & Employment

Musen aims to treat workers fairly and with respect. The company is committed to appropriate working conditions, clear employment practices and the prevention of discrimination, harassment, forced labour and child labour in its operations.

Business Integrity

Musen expects its business to be conducted honestly and responsibly. Bribery, corruption and other improper business practices are not acceptable, and employees and representatives are expected to act with integrity in their dealings with clients, suppliers and other parties.

Environment

Musen aims to minimise unnecessary environmental impacts from its operations and to carry out work in accordance with applicable requirements and client procedures. Field activities are planned and supervised with consideration for the surrounding environment, including the management of waste, fuels and other materials used during operations.

Our Policies

Musen has established company policies and standards to guide responsible and ethical business conduct. The following policies set out the principles and requirements that apply to our business activities.

Corporate Code of Conduct
Sets the minimum standards of conduct expected from Musen personnel and persons acting on behalf of the company.

Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption Policy
Sets Musen’s requirements for preventing bribery, kickbacks and improper advantages in its business activities.

Musen’s responsible-business commitments apply to its forestry contracting activities. TPCA operates as a separate company under Chen Jianguo’s ownership, with its own operational requirements associated with woodchip production.

Operational experience

Experience with international client requirements

Musen’s management has extensive experience working within the operating systems and requirements of international forestry companies in Laos. This experience includes working to established requirements for health and safety, environmental management, employment practices, operational control and contractor performance.

As part of Chen Jianguo’s previous contracting experience, forestry operations undertaken under the Hui Ying name were subject to SMETA audits, including independent assessment of labour standards, health and safety, environmental practices and business ethics. This experience included Hui Ying’s harvesting and timber transport operations for Mekong Timber Plantations.

Musen continues to apply and develop this experience within its own management practices, with the aim of maintaining practical systems that support responsible and well-managed field operations.
