Forestry experience built over many years in Laos
Musen is a newly established Lao company built on many years of practical forestry contracting experience. Its Managing Director, Chen Jianguo, has managed large-scale forestry operations in Laos covering silviculture, harvesting, timber transport, forest roads and related field operations.
Much of this experience was developed through operations undertaken under the Hui Ying & Oudomxay names, through which Chen managed forestry contracting work for major commercial forestry and plantation companies in Laos. This experience now supports Chen’s activities across both forestry contracting through Musen and woodchip production through TPCA.
Experience at scale
Musen is a newly established company, but the operational experience behind it extends over two decades of forestry and plantation contracting in Laos.
Since 2005, Managing Director Chen Jianguo has worked on substantial forestry operations for major international plantation investors and their successor companies. His experience includes land preparation, plantation establishment and maintenance, harvesting, timber transport, forest roads and related forestry operations.

Long-term experience in Lao forestry
Chen Jianguo’s forestry contracting experience in Laos began in 2005 and has continued through several generations of international investment in the country’s plantation forestry sector.
His early work included plantation land preparation for Oji Plantations and Birla Lao Pulp & Plantations. These operations subsequently changed ownership, with the former Oji plantation business becoming Mekong Timber Plantations in 2017 and the Birla plantation operations becoming part of Sun Paper’s operations in Laos in 2018.
Chen also worked with the plantation operations established by Stora Enso in southern Laos, which were subsequently acquired by SilviCarbon in 2021.
This long-term involvement has given Chen practical experience across different owners, management systems and stages of plantation development, from land preparation and plantation establishment through to harvesting, timber transport and road operations.
